Cayman Ecodivers
In the summer of 2023, I got the amazing opportunity to work as a Reef Management Intern at Cayman Ecodivers with the extraordinary Aaron Hunt. I trimmed, cleaned, and fragmented coral nurseries via Scuba and helped reassemble the company’s dive boat and truck. In addition to the diving I also worked on the fundraising efforts and event for the nonprofit organization.
Blue Water Divers
In the summer of 2022, I taught scuba diving at Blue Water Divers in Rochelle Park, NJ. I assisted with confined and open water training for adults and ran the scuba camp for middle schoolers.
Rainbow Reef IDC
In the spring of 2022, I became a divemaster and then a scuba instructor at Rainbow Reef IDC in Key Largo, FL. Being an Open Water Scuba Instructor qualifies me to teach Advanced, Rescue Diver, Emergency First Response (CPR), and Divemaster. I also earned Instructor Qualification in the following specialties: Deep Diver, Drysuit Diver, Wreck Diver, Nitrox, and Boat Diver.
Regeneron Semi-Finalist
Thanks to a generation donation from the Bergen County Academies Alumni Foundation, I was able to co-found the coral research program. I conducted two experiments on coral degradation: the first due to ocean acidification and the second due to sunscreen pollution. For the latter paper, I Won the Future Farmers of America National Agriscience Fair 2020 (the national convention is held in Indianapolis) and was named a 2021 Regeneron Science Talent Search Semifinalist. As of 2024, students are still researching Coral at the Bergen County Academies.
